Assistant Superintendent

Highland Pacific is currently seeking an agronomic-proficient professional to join the turf department in a year-round, full time, capacity. We are seeking a responsible individual with a strong work ethic who enjoys being part of a team and has a high standard for quality.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and supervision of golf course maintenance
  • Ability to adjust daily work schedules
  • Assist in staff training and supervision
  • Daily operation and maintenance of the irrigation system
  • Ability to operate pesticide and fertilizer application equipment
  • Capability to work in all weather conditions
  • Must be a team player
  • Weekend management shifts

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience on a golf course OR ongoing turf education
  • Advanced knowledge of agronomy and common turf grass practices
  • Clear understanding of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Audubon Sanctuary programs
  • WHIMS & Safety Training
  • Current BC Pesticide Applicator’s License (or ability to obtain)
  • Knowledge of the rules of golf
  • Positive attitude
  • Willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license

We are Victoria’s newest public golf course, just a short drive from downtown.  An 18-hole championship golf course built through rolling hills and rock outcroppings.  Stunning vistas of the Olympic Mountains, Pacific Ocean, and Downtown Victoria are abundant during your visit to Highland Pacific.   The facility is equipped with a 44 stall driving range, 22 of which are covered and heated for the winter months. Two practice greens and sand bunker for short game attention.  The club house includes a fully stocked golf shop, range café, and banquet room.

The facility is in operation 364 days a year.
