Since 1961 when Herb Plasterer bought 190 acres at the edge of Saanich
and View Royal, he had envisioned a golf course on that land. Rather
than subdivide, he wanted to maintain the property's natural beauty
with space accessible to the public as a buffer to the adjacent parks.
Herb's vision for the future encompassed all the aspects of what he
did, particularly inclusion of family values, as reflected in his
sculptures and his interest in the
history of Victoria. He worked hard to bring these values to tangible
reality, for example replicating the original bastion of Fort Victoria
using early settlement timbers, and publishing a book about Victoria's
beginnings
"From Fur Trading Post to Capital City".
Herb passed on in 1985, but his vision of a golf course encouraged
his family to continue pursuing this goal. Because of the rough
terrain, and working with two municipalities, this has been a
difficult project, taking 8 years to get the first building completed
(Driving Range and Cafe Clubhouse).
Plans for the future include an 18 hole golf course, currently under
construction, as well as resort and tournament facilities
